African safari wildlife park in port clinton11/20/2023 ![]() My fam set up shop at a picnic table to eat. ![]() One is a small zoo with pony rides, camel rides, pig races, snack shacks, picnic areas, and restrooms. There are two different areas when you enter the Safari. My family and I chose to pay for a car load rather than individual tickets because it was cheaper. I also recommend getting on their website before you go to print a coupon. We drove my mini van which was the perfect vehicle for the experience. My mother, younger brother, and I took my two daughters, ages 2 and 10 months to the Safari. This trip was AMAZING!!! The African Safair is about an hour from our house and after checking it out I know we will for sure be returning. The kids don't care if there aren't a ton of animals and have a good time seeing them all up close. Mosquitoes galore around the picnic tables! The Bottom Line: Go if you have coupons it's a fun was to spend half a day. Some looked like they could have used the respite. The animal feed and carrots are expensive! The Ugly: - Restroom facilities are on the primitive side - hit the McD's in town before you go! - I agree with some other reviewers, shade trees would be very nice for the animals. There are no guide books or pamphlets describing the animals in the drive-through portion, their natural habitats, endangered status, etc., which would have been nice. Some of the animals are also fenced in - no idea why. Not a great variety of animals in the drive-through portion - deer, llamas, buffalo, long-horned cattle, zebras, giraffes, and a yak(?). We were underwhelmed after visiting the African Lion Safari in Ontario. ![]() The Bad: - Tiny compared to some other drive-through zoo safaris. We didn't see any malnourished or injured/bleeding animals as mentioned by some other reviewers. My son absolutely loved it - except when he found himself face-to-face with a buffalo that stuck its head in our rear window! - and the adults enjoyed it, too. Takes about three hours to do the whole park, a good time frame for younger kids. w/ admission, $5 for each additional ride), silly animal shows, pig races, and other zoo animals. There are other things to do including camel & pony rides (one ride on each per child incl. You can drive through as many times as you want. You can feed the animals, which are all very used to human contact. The Good: - Relatively inexpensive, especially if you find discounted admission, which seems to be readily available.
